Melbourne, Singapore and Malacca

So many stories, so much to say. Am enjoying life 'down under' & hope to speak in more detail once I get back.

Am also stressing about job applications - not even Ajahn Chah CD's stop me panicking. I've ranked all the deaneries (health education authorities) with islands last - NO WAY am I gonna get stuck on the Isle of Man with a bunch of cats to talk to!

Shopping in Melbourne is great btw. Shame it's more expensive than England.

i'm hoping for a travelog update kinda like u did for NYC.. hope u will oblige !!

and good luck with those job apps.. i haven't quite got my head round MMC and F1/F2 cos i'm one of those few lucky ppl who will never need to get involved in any of that.. i hope u get ur first choice !!

more expensive than london ? huh... since when ? What and where are you shopping ? Please tell me it's not at Chadstone or Chapel St.

Anyway, if you after clothes (brand names) try Bridge St in Richmond. Otherwise let me know what you are after and I'll point it out.

BTW, I suggest going to the Melbourne Cup and may be catching up on some jazz @ Bennetts Lane these days.

Savi3, of course I'll do you a travelogue - it's the least I can do. Went to the bush today, to check out real-life wild kangaroos, rozallas, cockatiels and parrots.

I also smelt a eucalyptus tree :)

Ivap - I was taken to both those places and ended up buying nothing. Will try Bridge St and Bennetts Lane @ some point.

I'm looking for books, CDs and pretty girlie work/going out tops - kinda like what Portmans/OJay sell.

Ok , S

on new books and music, yes they are more expensive since most of these are imports, Here is a short list of places to try

books - try Readings in Lygon street, probably Melbourne's most urbanish bookshop. Also there are a few "alternative" books along Brunswick St, Fitzroy. For everything else I just go to borders. For second-hand books try

Alices's bookshop down Rathdowne St, Carlton, nice place for a good meal too.
Paul's bookshop in Windsor ( I can't remember the exact street but it's off Chappel St, near the croosing with High Street Rd [yes it's high street rd] ).
Also there a couple of second-hand bookshops along Burwood Rd, Camberwell another good place for general shopping (a tad more expensive though).

Girlie tops - definitely try Bridge Rd. Some of my friends like shopping at some of the local designer shops along Greville St (off chappel st), Brunswisk St and around the city arcades, lanes, GPO, GBV, etc.

Another worthwhile activity is to hire a bicycle, get a bike map and ride around the city and/or st.kilda

enjoy...
