Release the Children!

I got a Reggae interview with some Reggae Reggae sauce. Yay :D

Excuse my excitement, but this is quite possibly my biggest interview yet. The artists, Jam Jah, are on their way to bigger and better things; you can tell by their professionalism and phone manner. They're not massive yet though - I don't think anyone outside of the UK's dubstep/ShambalaFest scene would've cottoned onto them...

The reason why their interview is super-special is that this is my first professional commission. Hopefully, the interview will be up and running for view in ten days time. Yours truly is going to be paid for writing; a long long time before she gets paid for being a doctor ;)

Twelve-point pointer..

The 'Miscellany Meme', courtesy of El Rhythmico. Feel free to link back to me whilst you post your own take on things :D

  • I've got a dark sense of humour; give me Brass Eye and Peep Show anyday.

  • I'm looking forward to Omid Djalili's BBC One series - he's got a comedic wit that inspires; think Russell Peters gone satirical.

  • My heroine is Nigella Lawson. I met her this week and am not quite sure why I was starstruck.

  • My permitted celebrity indiscretion is Tyson Beckford.

  • My permitted 'other' indiscretions are Alexander Armstrong, Hugo Rifkind, Zack Braff and David Miliband.

  • I've come to the conclusion that Cameron's reforms aren't convincing - attitudes like this towards abortion belong in the dark ages.

  • My favourite authors are Robert Harris, Isabel Allende and Hari Kunzru.

  • My favourite boymanband may well end up nominated for a soundtrack at the Oscars: check out Take That's new song here.

  • I'm quite taken by this track too - I'm sure the RnB fans amongst you will appreciate it.

  • I'm super-impressed one of the Pirates (UK hip hop producers) is a Lankan and a doctoring Lankan too!

  • I'm writing a piece on Reggae.

  • I can't wink my right eye without closing the left one.

    Greetings Readers,

I really have kept you waiting this time! Sincere apologies but life a la Luck hasn't been so thrilling of late.

My life has concentrated around seeing patients, helping to look after my Grandfather, reading some books (vis here, here and here) and finding some work experience for when exams are over.

I've managed to bag myself a month here.

It's the first step in a long line of steps to support my application for this. Science is most certainly the most poorly-reported subject in the press. The majority of coverage is rarely objective, factual detail is often minimised and commentors fall into the celebratory or condemnatory camp far too easily. I prefer to go here or here for my fix of well-balanced reporting.

Either way, it's nice to one of my papers nominated for a Guardian Student Media Award this year :D

I best be off now - got another past paper to do.

    Take care,
